- The step from 16 to 32 Bit may be right, but I have my own problems with
- that. When receiving about 60 KB ore more my 8 MB machine starts trashing.
- The new Mosaic requires much more memory than the 16 Bit versions.
-
- Do all other users of Mosaic have 16 MB RAM in their boxes or am I doing
- anything wrong?

- I remember Bill Gates claiming NT being POSIX compatible and
- something like a 'better UNIX...'
-
- Get nntpd-1511A.tar.Z from your ftp server and try to compile it.
-
- If it doesn't work have a look at Linux (or another free UNIX
- implementation), I think it will run on your PC hardware after
- removing NT. Then build the nntp server package.

- Not being too picky, but that's *thrashing*. I have, however, been
- inclined several times to consider it trashing.

- Actually I have 64MB, but then again I always did overdo things. No,
- you're not doing anything wrong. I do know that Win32s likes swapfiles.
- Big ones. I run a temporary swap file on a 16MB RAM disk. It actually
- works better then running with none at all (magnetic or otherwise).

- This IS interesting!! I finally came to the conclusion that a great deal of
- the instability I'd experienced with Mosaic was actually the fault of Lview31.
- Recently, I was download some images with WS_FTP - which has ALWAYS
- been rock solid for me - and viewing them with Lview31 as they came in, and
- after several images I got a "Mosaic-like" crash. Since then I have switched
- to WinJPEG as a viewer and I have had almost no crashes with Mosaic!
- I agree... Keep at it NCSA!
